Alliance For Massage Therapy Education To Hold Annual Business Meeting Online

June 30, 2016 – – The Alliance for Massage Therapy Education, headquartered in Tucson, AZ, will be holding their annual business meeting online for the second time. This will be in lieu of a live conference. Although experimental, it is believed that holding the meeting in this manner will enable greater participation from a larger cross-section of the industry. In fact, when they held their annual business meeting online in 2014, it was very successful. It should be noted that in 2013, it was decided that the business meeting will be held online on even years, and on odd years it will be held during the Biennial Educational Congress.

Stephanie Beck from the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education says: “As an online marketing professional, I am so pleased to see that the meeting will be held online for the second time. Through online meetings, we can save time and money, as well as encourage greater participation, simply because more people can attend it.”

The online meeting agenda includes all the same items as the live meetings. These include updates on finance, the upcoming BOD elections, the Teacher Education Standards project, the next Biennial Educational Congress, marketing, and other committee projects. This year’s online annual business meeting will be held on July 14, 2016, 2:30-4:30 PM EDT. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

People are also encouraged to view the 2016 Election Slate online. Additionally, they can watch interviews of each of the candidates. “We currently have three sitting members,” adds Stephanie Beck. “They are Pete Whitridge, Cherie Sohnen-Moe and Stan Dawson, who have all applied to serve another two-year term. After due consideration the Alliance is recommending that they all be re-elected and they have been included on the proposed slate.”

The election itself will take place online, which is the second time this will happen. The process has been clearly set out, starting with candidates being interviewed before the end of June for voters to consider. Friday, July 15 is the deadline for members to accept or refuse the slate, with non-responses to be regarded as acceptance of the slate. If there is a Phase 2 election, then the deadline for those candidates is between August 7 and 8, leading to a voting deadline of August 27. The new term will begin on September 1.
