American Manganese Inc. to Present at NAATBatt International Workshop on Advanced Battery Recycling
VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / October 27, 2016 / Larry W. Reaugh, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Manganese Inc. (“American Manganese” or “AMI” or the “Company”), (TSX.V: AMY; Pink Sheets: AMYZF; Frankfurt: 2AM), is pleased to announce that the Company has received an invitation to present at a workshop on advanced battery recycling that NAATBatt International will hold on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The workshop will take place in the ballroom of the Michigan Union on the campus of the University of Michigan. The object of the workshop is to educate the wider industry about the need for and challenges of advanced battery recycling. The workshop will be attended by Mr. Norman Chow and Mr. Joey Jung of Kemetco Research Inc., and Mr. Larry Reaugh, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Manganese Inc. Mr. Chow will make a technical presentation about American Manganese Inc.’s proprietary process for recycling cathode material from spent lithium ion batteries, and serve on a workshop panel with Mr. Steve Sloop from OnTo Technology and Dr. Yan Wong of Worcester Polytechnic.
Mr. Chow is a Professional Engineer with an M.A.Sc. in Metals and Materials Engineering from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Chow has 19 years’ experience in technology development with a focus on commercialization of new environmental processes. Mr. Chow is the founder of Kemetco Research Inc., which has become one of the Canada’s largest private contract R&D firms servicing Environmental, Chemical and Mining companies. Mr. Chow was a winner of the Business in Vancouver 40 under 40 Award and Financial Post Technology Gold Award. Kemetco Research Inc. is currently developing lithium ion battery cathode recycling technology under contract for American Manganese Inc.
Mr. Jung is a Professional Engineer with an M.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Jung has over 15 years R&D experience in lead acid batteries, lithium ion batteries, fuel cells, metal-air batteries, electroplating / electro-winning, and electro-reduction of carbon dioxide. He has published several papers and patents, and authored a book chapter on lead acid batteries in the Wiley publication, “Electrochemical Technologies for Energy Storage and Conversion.” Mr. Jung is a co-founder and Treasurer of the International Academy of Electrochemical Energy Science (IAOEES) and Operations Manager of Kemetco Research Inc.
