The following is a press release announcing Process Street’s seed round of financing led by Blackbird Ventures.

Process Street, maker of team collaboration and workflow automation software, announced today that it has secured $1.3 million US in capital for its seed round led by Australian venture capital firm Blackbird Ventures, with AirTree Ventures also participating. This funding will allow Process Street to keep developing its workflow software, which has been adopted by over 90,000 users including enterprises such as British Telecom, H&R Block, and Autodesk, plus thousands of small businesses.

Blackbird Ventures is one of Australia’s leading venture capital firms. It invests in internet-powered businesses that are forming in Australia, but attacking a global market from day one. Previous investments include Canva ($345m valuation), Autopilot ($25.5m in funding) and Elto (acquired by GoDaddy).

“We’ve been using Process Street for our own investee onboarding processes so have experienced first hand the value this provides to customer-facing teams. We’re excited to be on the journey to empower all businesses with workflow management – something in the past limited to large corporates running enterprise software platforms,” said Bill Bartee, partner at Blackbird Ventures.

This is Process Street’s first round of financing after graduating from AngelPad, the #1 Startup Accelerator in the US.

Since its inception in 2014, Process Street has helped over 90,000 users in 49,000 companies save 10s of thousands of hours by automating their core business processes.

The app allows users to not only create procedure documents but actually execute those processes as checklists, collect data and automate tasks across teams and other applications.

Teams can also bring in external parties to complete these processes. For example, they might bring in clients for requirement gathering, or their lawyer to approve a contract.

Enterprise customers use Process Street’s secure workflow platform for client and employee onboarding, content approvals, quality assurance, sales demos and proposals, internal audits and more.

Process Street’s customer base consists of customer-facing teams (internal and external) in professional services and technology companies, with Sales, Support, IT, and Marketing being some of the most common, but businesses worldwide use the platform for all sorts of processes, akin to a product like Trello.

“Process Street is so easy to use that we get a ton of users jumping on to create a daily or weekly task lists — usually for their job, but occasionally it’s students and families too. Whichever way it starts, eventually we see users branch out to create and manage their whole library of business processes” – Vinay Patankar, CEO

Process Street offers a robust and fully functional free plan with a limit of 5 active templates and workflows which is perfect for small teams and startups. If companies want more they can easily upgrade to the business plan at $15 per user per month, or annually for $150.

“With this funding we’re going to continue development of the product to handle more complex business processes and help managers gain deeper insights into their team’s activities. As the product evolves we’re expecting more businesses to make the move from managing their processes with outdated office tools to using platforms like Process Street.” – Vinay Patankar, CEO

As part of AngelPad #8, Process Street worked alongside ex-Googler Thomas Korte who mentored the founders and provided personal capital to get the idea off the ground.

In August 2015, Process Street became a featured partner of Microsoft’s business social media platform, Yammer. Since then it has integrated with G Suite and over 750 apps via Zapier, with plans for many future integrations.

“A key part of our strategy is making it seamless for our users to pass their data between any app they want. We are committed to integrating with products our users love and automating as much of their work as we can.” says Cameron McKay, CTO

Over the last year, Process Street has grown from an operation run by the two co-founders — Vinay Patankar and Cameron McKay — to a semi-distributed team of 17 headquartered in New York.

The funding will be used primarily to grow the engineering team for faster product development and to help grow and monetize the customer base.
