The event was sponsored by Pepsi and 32 participants signed up for the competition. The oldest player was sixty years of age and the youngest was age ten. Murbles products can now be purchased on Walmart.com. The outdoor game was created in 1979 by Murray Kramer to provide a game which anyone could play and win.

The game is loosely based on the ancient European game called Bocce. The game pieces in Murray’s game are called Murbles. They are sized right, lighter, more dynamic and exciting.
