Arrowhead Clinic Publishes Article On Why Chiropractors Are Real Doctors
April 30, 2019 – – Arrowhead Clinic, based in Atlanta, Georgia, has announced that they have published a blog post on why chiropractors are real doctors. The article notes that in the world of medicine, chiropractic care appears to be somewhat of a gray area and is somewhere between standard medical care and alternative medicine. Standard medical care is provided by physicians and surgeons, while alternative medicine is provided by acupuncturists and massage therapists. It is pointed out that a chiropractor is a healthcare professional that is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders.
The focus of their treatment methods is through manual adjustment and manipulation of the spine. Most chiropractors will have as their goal the reduction of pain and the improvement of the functionality of the injured areas, including the treatment of the person as a whole. They also tend to make their patients aware of how to take care of their health through diet, exercise, ergonomics, and more. It is their belief that when the spine is not aligned properly, the nervous system is affected. Thus, for several conditions, chiropractic treatment is necessary to restore the structural integrity of the spine and relieve pressure on sensitive neurological tissue. The result is that the chiropractic treatments will improve the patient’s health.
Johnny Brown, a spokesperson for Arrowhead Clinic, says, “One reason chiropractors are in fact real doctors is the education and training that they get. They will typically complete about eight years of higher education before they receive their license. Most chiropractors have four years of undergraduate education, usually with a pre-med major after taking courses in the sciences, such as biology, chemistry, psychology, and physics. After that, they attend a chiropractic graduate program. If you want to know more about chiropractors, check out our new blog.”
Chiropractor education and training through graduate programs include important subjects including general anatomy, spinal anatomy, biochemistry, chiropractic procedures, clinical orthopedics, research methods, pathology, imaging interpretation, clinical internships, pediatrics, integrated chiropractic, dermatology, ethics and jurisprudence, and practice management. Chiropractors also get training and certification in a broad range of specialties, including sports medicine and rehabilitation.
With regards to treatments, chiropractors use various kinds of non-invasive treatments for different conditions. Some of these conditions are leg pain, sciatica, lower back pain, repetitive strains, neck pain, sports injuries, headaches, arthritic pain, and car accident injuries. It should also be noted that while chiropractors primarily focus on the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal disorders, they are not limited to problems with the nervous or musculoskeletal systems.
Chiropractic treatment is supported by science. A review was published in 2018 included 17 years of research on spinal manipulation and mobilization. These studies looked at the effects of the treatments on chronic lower back pain and it was concluded that chiropractic methods were viable alternatives for the management of pain. A review in 2018 also assessed the effectiveness of spinal manipulation in the treatment of lower back pain.
The article points out that the schooling alone proves that chiropractors are legitimate doctors. This is because it is not a profession that can be done by just taking some online courses and then a certificate is provided by email. In fact, the chiropractor is often in school for as long as a general practitioner and must spend thousands of hours studying to be able to obtain a license. Chiropractic care is non-invasive and drug-free, and can be used for treating various kinds of musculoskeletal problems. While chiropractic care may not be beneficial for everyone, it is generally regarded to be safe and legitimate for most people.
Arrowhead Clinic was established by Dr. Harry W. Brown, D.C., who graduated from the Logan College of Chiropractic. It currently has 15 chiropractic clinics in the Hinesville, Savannah, Athens, Atlanta, and Brunswick areas.
Johnny Brown says, “If you want to learn more about our chiropractic care center, you can visit the Arrowhead Clinic website, call us by phone, or contact us by email.”
