LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / January 4, 2017 / Ozlem Paker has launched a campaign Art is Therapy to help her establish an art studio in the Los Angeles area. Paker feels that art is an important platform for effective self expression and wishes to share her experiences with others. She asserts that art can be used as a therapeutic tool and wants to showcase her artwork for the benefit of the public.

Ozlem Paker is a multimedia artist who matured in New York after being raised in Istanbul. In 2002, she moved back to Turkey, but was forced to return to the states after the country was thrown into political turmoil. Paker now wishes to continue pursuing her passion, art, in Los Angeles, her new home, while ensuring that her ten year old son transitions to his new life successfully.

Interacting with art can bring a number of emotional benefits to the table and can encourage self expression while provoking thought. The concept behind Art is Therapy is founded on the belief that “artwork becomes interactive when there is a viewer, and the viewer becomes a participant in the scene. Some contemplate gazing at the pieces, and some simply enjoy being surrounded with artworks,” says Paker.

She has practiced art for over twenty years, working with concepts such as the human psyche, women’s and children’s issues and the human journey on earth. Her experience has shaped her artwork. “As a female being, born in a repressed society, I had to overcome many obstacles throughout all of my education in Turkey. However, these also encouraged me express myself freely, and to be determined to follow my own path.”

Paker has launched an Indiegogo campaign to finance her efforts to build an art studio. It is her hope that with the support of the art community and Los Angeles population, she will be able to share her passion with the area so they can use it as a therapeutic tool.
