As Lawsuit Filings Accumulate, Arizona Teen Is Hospitalized Following E-Cig Explosion

May 23, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on an Arizona teen injured in an e-cigarette explosion that may leave her hospitalized for one to two weeks. A report by ABC15 indicates that a 17-year-old Maricopa girl is currently in the hospital awaiting surgery after she was severely burned by an exploding e-cigarette. The girl stated that she was getting ready to use the device when it suddenly exploded. The explosion caught her clothes on fire and left her with serious burns on her chest, arms, hands, and side, according to the article.

For some e-cigarette users, this is a harsh reality. Similar cases of exploding e-cigarettes have been reported in several states including Georgia, where a Fulton man suffered second and third-degree burns when his device exploded in his pocket. Other cases of exploding cigarettes have been reported in Florida, New York, North Carolina, Alabama, Idaho, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Utah.

Since the devices became available, they have grown significantly in popularity with FEMA estimating about 2.5 million American users. Recently, the FDA has moved to regulate the devices along with other tobacco products, even going so far as to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors. Many of the cases involving e-cigarette explosions have resulted in lawsuits against the manufacturers and stores at which they were sold.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman are currently looking to assist those who have been affected by explosive e-cigarettes. Attorneys such as Marc Freund are working to ensure that those individuals who have been injured by the devices are able to explore their legal rights fully. Certain individuals may be entitled to financial compensation. Attorney Freund is currently offering free consultations to anyone who has been injured by the devices.
