As a company spokesperson noted, Autoset will help improve both precision and speed, while reducing the amount of waste scrap that is leftover. This is due to the innovative and automated device that automatically sets the miter saw cut length for the user.

“As a part of the Internet of Tools from Velocity Robotics, Autoset integrates with VR’s mobile app to streamline your workflow, whether you’re building a skyscraper, making a bookshelf, or anything in between,” the spokesperson noted, adding that Autoset will make every cut within 1/64 of an inch, or 0.4mm of the target, and prevent the need to constantly stop, measure, mark, and adjust.

“The app records a measurement from the tape measure and sends to Autoset. Autoset shows you which way to move, and then does a fine adjust after you move it. Make your perfect cut and be on your way.”

Thanks to Autoset, people will save both valuable time and money while working on projects. For example, they will no longer have to walk back and forth to the saw and install locations, and because they have less scrap, they will have to make fewer trips back to the lumber yard for more supplies.

While Autoset was designed to be used in construction sites, it can also be right at home in the workshop of a serious DIY-er. The price point will be affordable, and it will be made with sturdy, aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum C-Channel rail. Autoset is designed to be easily mounted to a portable saw stand or a fixed table, and it can attach to any make or model of miter saw.

To help pay for the production costs associated with bringing the Autoset to market, including securing manufacturing and supply chain contracts, Kriel and his team recently launched a fundraiser on Kickstarter. There, they hope to raise $50,000 through crowdfunding.
