Basking Ridge Summer Day Camp Now Open For Online Registration

March 30, 2016 – – Day Camp Sunshine, a provider of the classic, recreational camp experience in Basking Ridge, NJ, has announced that they have released their 2016 schedule and that online registration is now open. Parents are encouraged to register their children for the preschool, teen and kids summer camp programs as soon as possible, because places are limited.

Todd Haraldsen from Day Camp Sunshine says: “Our summer camp programs are designed to give children the classic camp experience, while fostering Christian character development at the same time. We encourage parents to register their children now. As we strive to maintain a 1:8 staff-camper ratio, spaces are limited.”

Day Camp Sunshine believes in community building, encouraging children to feel truly at home. During a typical day at the kids and teen summer camp programs, children will enjoy music and song, bible lessons, indoor and outdoor activities, snacks and lunch. Additionally, there are opportunities to register for pizza, pool parties, slumber parties and field trips.

While the days are filled with various activities, many of those are electives, which gives camp children the ability to make their own choices as well. “We believe in character building,” adds Todd Haraldsen. “While having a strong focus on Christian values, we encourage children to develop their own personalities, as well as a team working spirit. As such, we offer various electives that kids can choose from, so that they can do things they personally enjoy.”

There are three basic groups and these are the middlers (1st to 3rd graders), seniors (4th to 6th graders) and teens (7th grade and up). These groups rotate between some of the activities, which means children are always able to engage in activities with their peers and relevant to their age. At the end of the week, all children come together and Staff and Camper of the Week are announced, as well as the team winner. This is a culmination of the entire week, where children can share their experiences and discuss what they liked most of their time at the camp and what else they would like to see.

Meanwhile, children who are two and a half years old to kindergarten can join the preschool summer camp programs. The activities are specially designed for this particular age range although these are basically the same as for the regular summer camp programs.
