Boomer Benefits Warns Of Potential Rate Increases For Medigap Plan F In 2020
Many major name brand carriers offer an affordable alternative to Plan F. Plan G won’t be going away in the future.
Fort Worth TX – January 30, 2018 /MarketersMedia/ —
Boomer Benefits and Danielle Kunkle Roberts warn that there is a potential rate increase for Medigap Plan F expected in the year 2020 and beyond.Consumers who are concerned about this might consider Plan G, which is a good alternative to Plan F. Plan G is not expected to go away in the future and the plan is affordably priced. The company has just released their first YouTube video to explain the basics of Medicare.
In a recent interview with Danielle Roberts, she provided an explanation, “Some years ago, when Plans H, I, and J were phased out, Medigap policyholders saw rates increase significantly because no new policyholders were being introduced annually into that block of business. We don’t have a crystal ball to know if that will happen to Medicare Supplement Plan F. However, we are educating Medicare beneficiaries about their options for policies with similar coverage, like Plan G, which can often be a better value anyway.”
For decades, Medicare recipients have had the option to supplement their Medicare benefits with Medigap coverage. The most popular supplement plan for many years has been Medigap Plan F.
Congress is eliminating Medigap plans that cover the Part B deductible, such as Plan F and Plan C. Plan F is popular because it provides first-dollar coverage after Medicare, leaving the client with zero out-of-pocket fees. However, Roberts explained that even though Medigap Plan G policyholders pay their own Part B deductible, the lower premiums often make Plan G a better value.
Congress is eliminating Plan F because legislators fear that policyholders under Plan F are visiting healthcare providers more often than those who must pay their own deductibles. On the other hand, if people must pay out-of-pocket, they are less likely to visit the doctor for minor ailments. Those who are critical of eliminating Plan F fear that some people might forego care, resulting in more expensive care later on. Legislators want individuals to have some “skin in the game”.
