Butterfield Has Been Named Lawyer Of The Year

Dallas, OR – March 14, 2017 /MarketersMedia/

In January 2017, Dallas attorney Stan Butterfield was presented with The Lawyer of the Year award at the annual Marion County Bar Association awards banquet. Although Butterfield’s practice is based in Polk County, the Marion County Bar and the Polk/Marion County Legal Aid Office recognized Butterfield for his exemplary service to the community. Butterfield was cited for accepting an appointment from Marion County Circuit Court Judge David Leith to act as an indigent person’s guardian for 60 days back in 2014. When the appointment lapsed, Butterfield voluntarily continued serving as the man’s guardian for two and a half more years until a guardian was no longer needed.

Butterfield is known for his commitment to protecting the elderly, which grew from a relationship he formed with a neighbor in the early 1980s. The 106-year-old man enthralled Butterfield with his stories of working as a shipwright and as a mechanic for the Wright brothers. From that time onward, the attorney in Dallas Oregon has maintained a strong interest in advocating for the elderly.

His current practice focuses on helping individuals take care of aging or otherwise needful family members through guardianships and conservatorships. In addition, he works with clients in the areas of wills and estate planning, probate, and trusts. He also acts as a fiduciary agent for clients who may not have loved ones or family members to look out for their interests.

Also recognized at the banquet as Law Firm of the Year was Martinis and Hill for their service to the community. One of the founding members of Martinis and Hill was Polk County Circuit Court Judge, Norman Hill. While Judge Hill is no longer a part of the firm, Hill noted earlier this month that he was pleased to see that a tradition of public service has continued after his departure.

Oregon State Senate President, Peter Courtney, was also a presenter at the event where he gave attorney Keith Swanson the DeMuniz Professionalism Award for excellence in the legal profession in the Willamette Valley.

About Stan Butterfield, P.C., Attorney at Law

In recent years, Stan has served as Polk County’s District Attorney and has been responsible for prosecuting a sizable number of criminal cases involving the financial or physical abuse of the elderly. As District Attorney, Stan’s office prosecuted on average 2,000 cases a year and dealt with a large variety of offenders from murderers to drug addicts and petty thieves. Now Stan is again in private practice as an attorney in Salem Oregon, but now he is able to focus more on helping the elderly. Stan’s passion for protecting the elderly grows out of a sense of gratitude for the many contributions the passing generations have made. His founding principle has been preserving the dignity of those he serves while providing help in maintaining the highest quality of life that circumstances will allow.
