Calendar Watch by “What?” Making Some Serious Buzz in the Smart Watch and Planning Space
The new watch serves as both a timepiece and a calendar with multiple functions not possible with a smart phone or tablet
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 7, 2016 / According to a recent study, the average smartphone owner checks his/her phone 221 times a day. That habit is exacerbated by professionals who maintain complex schedules and stack multiple meetings during a workday. Smartphones are supposed to help people manage their time more effectively, but in an increasingly complex world, important events are still missed, and checking a phone is considered bad decorum in social situations.
It’s for this reason that Igor Basargin is proud to announce his calendar watch called “What? Watch.”
“What? Watch” integrates with tablet and smartphone technology to put daily calendars onto the watches display screen to be seen at a glance. Once the watch is synced with the app, dark segments represent scheduled meetings, while white segments represent free time. The watch shows the wearer’s schedule 12 hours in advance, and constantly updates as time passes. Users can also see what the next day’s schedule looks like by tapping twice on the glass.
While multitasking reportedly drops IQ by 15 points, Basargin created his watch to keep professionals on track without having to constantly check their smartphones. It allows the owner to discreetly check what’s coming up, and alerts them with visual and vibrational reminders. It also keeps time automatically, even when the wearer changes time zones. It only needs to be charged once every few weeks, and the calendar stays current even if the synced smartphone or tablet runs out of batteries.
The aesthetics of the watch were built with simplicity and sophistication in mind. “It was conceived and designed by renowned Japanese art director Masashi Kawamura who has been featured on the FastCompany’s most creative people list, and Italian industrial designer Umberto Onza,” says the website. “Together they have fused the aesthetics and demands of consumers who want to curate their own style with an eye toward story, craftsmanship, and individuality.”
In order to introduce his watch to a larger audience, Basargin has taken it to the pages of Indiegogo where he hopes to collect enough funds to open the market to his growing list of interested customers.
