California Man Severely Injured In E-Cigarette Explosion, Spurs Plausible E-Cig Explosion Lawsuit Cases

June 21, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Marc Freund commented on a recent development in California where an apparent e-cigarette explosion sent a local man to the hospital. Freund hopes that the victim is able to make a full recovery from his injuries and that he seeks legal justice for his damages. Additionally, Attorney Freund applauds the local first responders for assisting the man.

According to a local news report from OCRegister.com, a 34-year- old Mission Viejo resident was severely injured following an e-cigarette explosion that occurred in his shorts pocket. An Orange County Fire Authority Captain stated that the man sustained severe burns to his left leg, that were assessed as first and second-degree burns at the local hospital. The accident occurred on June 11th at night, while the victim was working at his computer.

A previous count by FEMA indicated that there were 25 reported e-cigarette explosions since 2009, however, an updated timeline from TheProductLawyers.com has detailed 199 reported explosions since then. The timeline shows that there have already been 77 explosions in 2016, which is 30 more than 2015’s total. The timeline also details that there have been 19 e-cigarette explosions in California, which is the highest number of explosions in one state. California’s e-cigarette explosions total also holds significant weight in making the Pacific West the most common region in the U.S. for e-cig explosions.

The report also specifies that the number of e-cigarette explosions in 2016 is well on track to exceed the total e-cigarette explosions in 2015, and 2014 of 85. Due to the increasing number of e-cigarette explosions, individuals should be made aware of the potential dangers of their purchases.
