California Teen Suffers Severe Injuries In E-Cigarette Explosion, While E-Cig Explosion Lawsuit Filings Increase
July 20, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on a detailed timeline of e-cigarette explosions compiled by TheProductLawyers.com that depicts the increasing prevalence of such occurrences over the last 2.5 years. It also identifies an increasing rate of occurrence of the explosions and an especially dramatic increase in 2016. California leads the nation in the number of explosions since 2009 with 19 such incidences, which equates to 15 percent of the total number of reported explosions to date. It also should be noted that since 2014, there have been 162 verified e-cigarette explosions. Of this amount, 85 occurred in 2014 and 2015, with 77 of them having already occurred in 2016 alone.
One such incident happened in California. As per a news report made by PasoRoblesDailyNews.com, a local teen enjoying the company of his friends in his car sustained physical damage to both himself and his car when the e-cig he was using exploded in his face. The explosion cracked a window in his car, punctured a hole in his tongue and knocked out some of his teeth. Shortly after the incident occurred on the 1900 block of Cottonwood Road, emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the youth to Twin Cities Community Hospital. After the victim arrived at the hospital, he was then airlifted to Fresno Regional Medical Center to receive proper treatment for his burns in the facility’s burn unit.
LipsigLawyers.com’s Marc Freund referenced the late April episode involving the 17-year old teenager. He stated he is always disheartened to hear of such incidences involving underage smokers since they should not be able to purchase and use e-cigarette devices in the first place. He also extended his best wishes to the boy and hopes he makes a full and speedy recovery from his injuries.
