Car Dealer’s Donations Near £45K
Family-owned Swansway Motor Group pledge a generous £4,640 donation to Circus Starr – a unique social enterprise that helps children with additional needs enjoy the fun of the circus.
Crewe, United Kingdom – June 11, 2019 / / —
Circus Starr is a unique organisation that looks to change the way children and families enjoy the circus. Founded in 1987, the social enterprise has been delivering live entertainment to children with disabilities, and families that usually find it hard to enjoy the circus. They have created a ‘tut-free’ zone where kids with additional needs are free to make noises, shout out, and have all the fun they want without being judged.
The company is fuelled by generous donations, and are currently celebrating a massive contribution of £4,640 from Swansway Motor Group. Director, David Smyth, explains that “since the beginning of 2016, we’ve been donating £20 to Circus Starr for each car we sell on the Motability scheme; that’s the cost of one child and their parent or carer going to a Circus Starr performance”. He went on to add that “the number of cars sold on the Motability scheme in the first quarter of 2019 has led to our largest ever quarterly donation to Circus Starr of £4,640; this means we can help more children attend a Circus Starr performance, which is so much more than a trip to the circus, it can be life-changing”.
This recent donation alone can help 232 children enjoy the unique atmosphere of Circus Starr. Swansway Motor Group has been making regular donations since January 2016 and has donated close to £45,000 in just over 3 years. Along with the very generous donation in the first quarter of the year, the company also expressed its commitment to continue supporting Circus Starr throughout 2019 and beyond.
Simone Unett, the fundraising team manager at Circus Starr, is understandably delighted with this news. She explained that “it’s hard to put into words just how much we value Swansway’s support; one in twenty children are born with a disability; 4.5 million children are living in poverty and simply would never have the opportunity to see a live performance”. Without this kind of generosity, there wouldn’t be a place for underprivileged and disabled children to experience live circus entertainment.
When speaking about the organisation, Simone states that “Circus Starr allows the whole family to share a truly magical experience, free of any worries, knowing their needs will be met and their senses wowed. It’s a place where families, who too often miss out on fun, can relax, be themselves and feel included”. David Smyth echoes these sentiments and adds that “I’m a dad of three children myself, and every time I come along to support Circus Starr, I’m humbled by the experience they give these children and their families. Seeing how much the children enjoy it, their smiles and their families smiles is very emotional for me as a Dad”.
It’s clear that the support is very much appreciated by Circus Starr, and that Swansway truly believes in this cause. David had one last thing to say as he expressed “I’m so proud that our family business is helping Simone and the Circus Starr team make a real difference for other families”. The future for both organisations looks bright, and Swansway’s Motability scheme will continue to support Circus Starr through quarterly donations in 2019, and many years to come.
