Centura Tile (www.Centura.ca), North America’s premier distributor of both residential and commercial floor and wall fashions, is weighing in on a recent market study research that highlights the increased role resilient flooring tiles will have in the coming years.

A study by Hexa Research, titled Global Flooring Market Size, Market Share, Application Analysis, Regional Outlook, Growth, Trends, Competitive Scenario And Forecasts, 2012 To 2020, examines the trends shaping consumer demand in the tiling industry. The report specifically singles out resilient flooring, such as vinyl tile flooring, as one of the main beneficiaries poised for substantial growth over the coming years. “The trends show three things driving tiling demand for the next five years,” says Ross Keltie, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Centura Tile. “Those three things are surges in building construction from urbanization, consumers becoming more eco-conscious, and a drive for cheaper, more durable, and easier to install materials.”

Hexa Research also noted impediments to market growth, such as consumer apprehension about difficult or costly installations. Keltie takes a positive outlook on this: “Once the public is properly educated on the benefits of resilient flooring, it shouldn’t be too hard to change consumers’ perceptions and rid them of any apprehension, especially when the benefits so clearly outweigh any costs.”

“It should be noted that there is also a movement towards tiles that don’t contain chemicals, such as phthalates,” Keltie concludes. “Vinyl tiles are often preferred for this reason. Vinyl can mimic an incredible amount of other substances, so it has far more uses than many other flooring types. It’s the perfect candidate for taking the lead in these market conditions.”
