Due to a gradual shift in the usage of illegal drugs in the UK, Drug-Aware.com, a provider of workplace drug testing products and services, has announced a new upgrade to their popular 7 Drug Integrated Drug Testing Cup. Their flagship product has been upgraded to the new Drug-Aware 10 Drug Integrated Test Cup.

Used to ensure that safety-critical staff are fit for work, the new 10 panel device has three additional drugs which can be detected in minutes. The existing version of the device already covered the most commonly abused drugs, including Cannabis, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Methamphetamines, Opiates and Benzodiazepines, but the additional drug tests which have been added include Ketamine, Tramadol and MDMA (which allows the earliest detection of Ecstasy use).

Christopher Evans, a spokesperson for Drug-Aware.com stated “The change is in response to an accumulation of data showing that the use of some additional drugs is becoming increasingly commonplace. Therefore, some clients have requested a 10 drug cup to meet their contractual requirements. As part of our ongoing effort to improve the effectiveness of our products, customers can expect regular updates both now and in the future.”

As before, the integrated drug test cup only requires the push of a button to operate – so it is simple for managers and supervisors to carry out testing in the workplace in mere minutes. The device also still incorporates a temperature strip, enabling the collecting officer to ensure that the urine sample is at core body temperature at a glance. This shows that sample has actually come from the donor and is not simply a concealed specimen or a diluted sample.

Christopher Evans went on to say, “We feel it is very important to keep the panel of drug tests we offer relevant to the current market conditions. Drug use trends change, so employers should change with them. By updating the combination of drugs on our test equipment, we make it easy for employers to remain current, meeting their duty of care to their employees and the public at large.”

Mr Evans also reported that when their customers add drug awareness training to their activities, they average a positivity rate of less than 1 in 20 samples. On this basis, perhaps the revised panel of drugs may not fundamentally change the face of drug testing, but it does add further reassurance that the process is increasingly comprehensive.

Current and prospective customers interested in learning more about the upgrade can do so directly on the company’s website.
