The pitching staff for the Royals didn’t have the best ERA of those teams that qualified for the postseason this year but they did have enough talent to get this far. Youngster Yordano Ventura pitches with an attitude and tied for the team lead with 13 wins. Edinson Volquez also added 13 victories with a 3.55 ERA which was best on the staff for any pitcher that had enough innings to qualify for the ERA title. At the end of the season the Royals ninth inning guy was Wade Davis. Davis, a former starter, took over for Greg Holland after he was injured and has not looked back since.
