The winner of nine Tony Awards including for “Best Musical” is still bringing in sell out crowds at each venue it visits. The Book of Mormon is a 2.5 hour long show that fans of theater from around the world have enjoyed since it debuted on Broadway 4 years ago. The show, which was written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, has been performing at countless venues throughout North America.

The Book of Mormon is a show that centers around two Mormon missionaries that are sent to a village in Uganda that is being overrun by a warlord. The two missionaries attempt to share one of their scriptures, the Book of Mormon, but the residents of the village are too busy worrying about things other than religion. Since opening in 2011, the show has set records for ticket sales, won Tony Awards for Best Original Score, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Featured Actress in a Musical and Best Scenic Design. The show has also claimed a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

The Peoria Civic Center hosts various concerts, Broadway shows, ballet, orchestra concerts, and other events annually. This venue opened up in 1982 and it is located at 201 SW Jefferson Street in Peoria.
