CIPD Resourcing and Talent Planning Survey 2021
Omni and the CIPD have teamed up to conduct research that presents groundbreaking findings relating to resourcing and talent planning in the UK.
Altrincham, United Kingdom – October 6, 2021 / / —
2020 and 2021 have been strange years for the UK, particularly when looking at the job market. More and more job vacancies have opened up as businesses came out of lockdown and looked to hire enough people to get themselves back on track. It all led to an interesting time in the world of recruitment, with many patterns discovered relating to employer’s approaches to recruitment and retention.
Two big names in the industry have teamed up to create a report that collects all the vital data relating to recruitment and retention in the UK. Omni and the CIPD have recently published their Resourcing and Talent Planning Survey 2021. It contains all the latest insights into resourcing and talent planning, giving an insight into how employers have responded to the ongoing pandemic.
43% of employers are still taking an ad hoc approach to recruitment
One of the key findings from the survey is that employers are taking an ad hoc approach when it comes to recruitment. In essence, it’s something that businesses are only thinking about when they need to think about it. In turn, this has led to recruitment problems as employers find it challenging to acquire the right talent for the company.
Only 40% of employers undertake retention initiatives
Another key stat from the report found that a mere 40% of employers are undertaking retention initiatives. That means that 60% of those surveyed have nothing in place to encourage retention in the workplace. Consequently, it’s no surprise that UK job vacancies are soaring; employers are losing employees, as they aren’t focusing on retaining them.
This is one of the critical points discussed in the survey, as it’s believed that UK businesses need a complete overhaul when it comes to retention and talent management. There’s not a lot of strategy at play right now, and this needs to change if employers want to retain employees and prevent high turnover rates.
A comprehensive look at resourcing and talent policies
As well as the stats mentioned above, there is a plethora of information in the report relating to resourcing and talent policies. It’s a comprehensive study that looks at businesses across the UK, picking out the good and the bad.
Omni and the CIPD have produced a range of case studies alongside the report, providing further context to their findings. Both the report and the case studies can be found here.
