Colorado Man Says Exploding E-Cigarette Caused House Fire As Lawsuit Filings Continue To Rise

May 14, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com comments on a news release from KRDO.com of Colorado Springs, Colorado which details the story of a young man who was reportedly in the basement playing video games when he suddenly heard a strange noise upstairs. Going up to investigate, the man says that he saw smoke pouring out of the bedroom, and walked in to see the bed was on fire. When he used a blanket in an attempt to smother the flames, he says he suffered burns to his arm, hands, and face. After the smoke had cleared, he reportedly realized that his e-cigarette, which he had left charging on the floor of the room, had exploded, causing the fire.

He told the news outlet, “It didn’t stop charging. It’s like when you keep filling up a gas tank, it just kept going.” And also noted, “It just exploded and shot flames onto the bed.” The idea of e-cigarette explosions and the damage they could potentially cause is a growing controversy, as more people begin to use the devices. Across the United States, stories much like this one continue to surface, causing increased worry and alarm.

Even more recently, in Queens, a young woman reported that she was parking her car when her charging e-cigarette also exploded, causing painful burns to her legs, and actually becoming embedded into her car’s dashboard. The woman is pursuing legal action at this time through attorney Marc Freund, who is not only working to help others in her shoes, but to further investigate the cause of these potentially dangerous situations.

Freund has advised that anyone who feels they have been harmed by an e-cigarette device should take advantage of the important opportunity to evaluate their legal rights in the matter fully. Those who have been affected could be entitled to significant compensation gained through legal action. Freund and his firm, Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman are offering involved individuals free legal consultations at this time, to help them to be better informed as they make decisions regarding how to proceed.
