Commonwealth Learning Online Institute Launches Dyslexia Professional Learning Opportunity For Educators
January 08, 2020 – – Aligning with several new state laws around dyslexia screening and reading disabilities, CLOI will provide more enhanced learning opportunities for teachers and administration.
Needham, MA – Commonwealth Learning Online Institute, a not-for-profit organization providing online professional development for teachers, today announces their dyslexia professional learning opportunity for educators throughout the United States. With the passing of many dyslexia-related legislative laws and updates on the state level, Commonwealth Learning Online Institute (CLOI) has developed a professional learning opportunity to help educators better support students with dyslexia.
“With all of the recent legislative changes to laws around dyslexia screening, including identifying and supporting children with dyslexia, educators are searching for the best training materials for screening and teaching their students,” Kim Michel, Director CLOI. “Our new programming allows for all teachers across the country to have a better understanding of, not only their state and national laws surrounding dyslexia and reading disabilities, but also to come away with a much better understanding of how to support their students.”
Aligning with standards from the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), the purpose of the CLOI program is for educators to acquire an equal level of understanding regarding students with dyslexia, and the legislation that is in place to support those individuals academically. Throughout the program, educators will learn more in-depth information around dyslexia including red flags within the classroom, early screening practices, K-12 instructional tactics and more details about the updated legislation. Educators will come away from the program understanding the most common intrinsic differences between effective readers and struggling readers, recognizing the symptoms and intricacies of dyslexia and other reading challenges and understanding federal and state laws pertaining to reading disabilities and dyslexia.
