CONQUER your CLIMBING Launches Page On Rock Climbing Terms

September 01, 2015 – – CONQUER your CLIMBING, a business that aims to promote rock climbing, has launched a web page that contains a comprehensive list of rock climbing terms and lingo. The company has long provided advice, information and guidance in terms of rock climbing practices, locations and more.

Keith from CONQUER your CLIMBING says: “Rock climbers live in a world of their own, usually high above other people. When people live in their own world, they start to develop their own language. This is something that can be learned through experience, but that can take years. With our list, anyone can get to grips with the particular lingo in a much shorter time.”

New rock climbers often mention that they struggle to understand the terminology. This can get in the way of their enjoyment of the sport, because they won’t be able to respond quickly to other rock climbers even if they feel they know how to rock climb. Lack of knowledge of the various terms even has the potential to be dangerous, and it also makes the climb itself more strenuous and difficult. As such, rock climbers are encouraged to study the list of terms before they go climbing, allowing them to communicate more effectively with the veteran rock climbers.

“Imagine being high up on a rock and your buddy tells you to watch out, they are going to ‘barn door’,” adds Keith. “At that point, you don’t really have the time to look around or ask someone what a barn door actually is. A ‘barn door’ happens when a climber is off balance and swings out like a door, so they could potentially fall whether they know what they’re saying or not!”

One of the things that sets the list apart is that it includes photographs. This adds a greater visual aspect to the list and allows people to really learn how to speak the language of rock climbing. It is also good to see that the list is not endless. The lingo is clear and reasonably easy to master and anyone should be able to study it before they go climbing. Those who need more rock climbing tips may want to visit the company’s website.
