Construction Accident Lawyer Commends Doctor For Aiding Construction Worker
May 23, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman commended a New York doctor’s efforts recently after the medical professional helped a construction worker who fell 15 feet into a trench.
The Brooklyn doctor helped rescue a man who was critically injured while working on a construction site near Kingsbrook Medical Center on East 49th Street in East Flatbush at about 8:30 a.m. A backhoe had hit a light pole that toppled over and knocked the man into the trench, according to reports from NBC New York. When the doctor arrived, he saw the man in the trench, unconscious and bleeding. He then climbed down a ladder to aid the man. The worker is now is critical but stable condition and authorities are investigating.
These incidents are not altogether uncommon. Currently, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) reports that there are 2.3 million construction workers in the United States at any given time and injuries such as broken bones, lacerations, spinal and brain injuries have been reported in a number of construction sites across the country. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in 2014, New York experienced 86 construction fatalities. Twenty-four of those incidents involved contact with objects and equipment and 28 were because of falls, slips, and trips.
