Construction Accident Lawyer Says Death of North Carolina Construction Worker Is A Tragedy

May 29, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman commented recently on an incident in North Carolina in which a construction worker was fatally injured. Moverman stated that the loss of life is always tragic and, unfortunately, a situation that happens all too often in the construction field.

The 42-year-old Beaufort man had been working on installing a new roof on a boathouse building when he fell 40 feet to the ground, according to WNCT news. The man was sent to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and later sadly succumbed to those injuries. The North Carolina Department of Labor is now investigating the incident and will be checking for any safety violations.

There are several different ways construction workers can be injured on the job. Among the most frequent are slips, trips and falls, scaffolding accidents and falls from ladders. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 933 construction related accidents in the U.S resulted in a fatality in 2014. That number steadily increased since 2011 when the total reached 781 fatalities. In non-fatal incidents, common injuries have included fractured or broken bones, spinal injuries, and brain injuries.
