The first story is titled A MouseKeeper Christmas. A little known fact about the North Pole is revealed. The elves’ all have pet mice. The picture book has 36 full color illustrations. This offering is best for the three to eight year olds. The second tale, New Shoes for Elizabeth, is targeting the tween agers with 22 black and white sketches used to introduce each chapter with one more illustration to help end the story. This tale was inspired by true events from the author’s family oral history. The Depression Era Christmas of 1939 finds the heroine, Elizabeth, aged thirteen, and her five brothers expecting a present less holiday after a tragic farming accident threatens to ruin their home.

Crazy Red Head Publishing is proud to offer these stories in paperback form for those readers who love to hold a book. With the A MouseKeeper Christmas book, children can play hide-and-seek with the mice. Hopefully this activity will become a new family tradition in many homes. What better way to help the young ones endure the long wait between Thanksgiving and Christmas, than to pass the time playing games with their resident mouse. A Mousekeeper Christmas, will transform the way Christmas is anticipated forever. The e-book version has over 250 pop ups that make the book a hide and seek game as well. Mice are hiding in many of the pictures. The e-book pop ups make the story experience interactive and educational.

In New Shoes for Elizabeth, the historic event of the Depression is shown through the eyes of six children, aged fifteen through five, in hopes of having today’s tweeners better understand the suffering that even children were asked to endure, if, like the author’s mother, they had lived during that period.

Children’s books are a powerful learning aid for all ages. The pre-readers learn by listening to books read aloud which introduces them to the nuances of the English language. The older children learn what it might have felt like to live in another time. The tween years are the years when altruistic behaviors are to emerge. This story will help that development by building sympathy for the plight of these six children.

The e-book, A Mousekeeper Christmas, tells a little known story about the North Pole. The elves at the North Pole all have pet mice. These pets were originally useful as toy testers but they have now become a bit of a problem for Santa. The mice need to go on a vacation and the children of the world volunteer to take care of these hide and seek loving mice from Thanksgiving to Christmas. The children who volunteer to take care of the mice for that month long vacation become MouseKeepers of the adorable North Pole mice. This vacation season is much needed for Santa to make enough toys for all the good girls and boys or Christmas, this year, could be ruined. Santa holds a contest to find a solution and a smart six-year old named Sara comes up with this great mouse vacation idea. The reason Santa’s toy production is off this year is a pleasant surprise. Read more about these adventures in the book.

Both books are available in paperback and e-book formats on Amazon with free downloadable companion coloring books available on the Crazy Red Head Publishing web site. A Parent’s/Guardian’s Guide to A MouseKeeper Christmas is also offered at the same web site. (Please see links provided.)
