Crestview Bankruptcy Attorneys Share How to Become a Lawyer

November 25, 2019 – – Crestview, FL. – Martin Lewis and Steve Jurnovoy, Crestview bankruptcy attorneys, are excited to share this month how to become a lawyer. Martin Lewis and Steve Jurnovoy have practiced bankruptcy law together in the Panhandle area for over 20 years. They are passionate about helping their community through the difficult process of filing for bankruptcy. They are also thankful for the opportunity to show others how they can become a lawyer and help others too.

Like most degrees, becoming a lawyer starts with an undergraduate degree, according to Lewis and Jurnovoy. There are many different degrees a prospective lawyer can major in before heading off to law school. Currently, the most recommended degrees to obtain before law school are History, English, Business, Political Science, Philosophy, and Psychology.

Lewis and Jurnovoy assert that some majors are better than others when preparing for law school. For students who already know what law they’d like to practice, it would be better for them to major in something relevant to that type of law. For example, bankruptcy lawyers would do well to major in Accounting or Finance.

The next step to becoming a lawyer is to apply to and choose a law school. There are over 200 different law schools in the United States, so it may be difficult to decide which one is best. The Crestview Chapter 7 Bankruptcy lawyers recommend filtering law schools by location, cost, and lifestyle.

Lewis and Jurnovoy recommend choosing a law school that is close to home or in the state the student wishes to practice in upon graduation. Be mindful of costs as well. Law school is extremely expensive, so try to cut down the costs as much as possible. Also, determine whether a law school with night or online classes is best.

Martin Lewis and Steven Jurnovoy joined as partners in 1998 to create the law firm of Lewis & Jurnovoy, P.A. The primary emphasis of the law firm is in the representation of individuals and sole proprietors in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy (“Debt Consolidation”) and Chapter 7 Straight Bankruptcy.
