Dallas Construction Worker Killed In Lift Accident, Cues Comment From Construction Accident Lawyer

June 06, 2016 – – Thomas Moverman of LipsigLawyers.com recently commented on the need for greater safety precautions on construction work sites due to the sharp increase in fatal injuries that have occurred in the last 5 years.

As reported by NBCDFW.com, on May 11th of 2016, a local Dallas construction worker was on site near a forklift in Rowlett at about 8:15 AM. The local worker has been presumed dead after a forklift fell over and crushed the 36-year- old man. Authorities have not identified the victim, but they have indicated that the accident took place at the building site of a proposed project for a number of apartment buildings called Terra Lago. The site is located on the west bank of Lake Ray Hubbard close to the intersection of Texas 66 and Scenic Drive.

Fatalities in the construction industry have increased recently. OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) reports that there were 874 deaths in construction in 2014 which accounts for over 20% of worker fatalities in all private industries. Out of those 874 deaths, over 58% of them occurred from the “Fatal Four.” Eliminating the ‘Fatal Four’ (falls, electrocutions, being struck by objects, and being caught between equipment), would result in nearly 365 fewer construction-related deaths per year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman are committed to offering assistance to individuals and their families who have been affected by construction accidents. Attorney Thomas Moverman notes that although OSHA regulations have decreased the average number of worker deaths per day from 38 to 13 since 1970, there are still significant improvements that can be made to bring that number much closer to 0. The firm has great success representing victims of construction accidents, for instance, they recently won a verdict that awarded a victim 2.6 million dollars in compensation after the victim fractured his ribs and injured his spine due to a scaffolding fall due to a defect. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman are offering free legal consultations to all individuals who have been affected by construction accidents.
