Death Of Worker In New Orleans Prompts Questions From Construction Accident Lawyer

June 30, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman stated this month that the recent death of a construction worker in New Orleans should be cause for questioning the effectiveness of construction standards. Moverman offered his sympathies to the friends and family of the victim.

The worker had been assisting with a flood control project for Napoleon Avenue in New Orleans when he was injured, according to WGNO ABC. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stated that one worker had died but declined to release further information about the incident. The group said they had been installing underground canals as part of the flood control project.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that there are four kinds of accidents that are typically associated with fatalities on the job. Falls, electrocution, being struck by an object and getting caught in between objects are listed as the leading causes. The “fatal four,” as they are called, were responsible for more than half of construction worker deaths in 2014. The most common of the four were falls, accounting for 39 percent of construction fatalities. Common non-fatal injuries include lacerations, bruises, brain damage, spinal damage and broken or fractured bones.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for the worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.
