Diamond Resorts International – Tips for Touring California’s Wine Country

LAS VEGAS, NV / ACCESSWIRE / April 13, 2017 / California’s wine country – the Napa and Sonoma valleys, outside of San Francisco – is where visitors come from all over the world to celebrate the sensual joys of life. Besides the more-than-400-wineries between both counties, the area offers art museums, excellent seasonal cuisine and artisanal foods, hot springs, beaches, golfing, spa resorts, high-end boutique shopping, and the amazing redwood groves and Petrified Forest. Diamond Resorts International®, timeshare ownership leader with a global network of more than 370 locations and cruise itineraries, has put together some helpful tips when planning a trip to the wine country.

One of the first decisions to make is whether you want to stay in the area or in San Francisco and take one of the many tasting tours that operate in the city. It is about an hour and half trip to both valleys, with many tours offering bus or even limo service to various wineries and back again, with great history lessons and stops at other points of interest. It is an easy and safe way to experience many tasting rooms. Of course, staying in the area has its own rewards, such as the sight of early golden California sun warming the foggy vineyards or leisurely walks and a picnic lunch amid the rolling hills and oak trees in the area. If you decide to do the tour on your own, be sure to plan ahead, advise Diamond Resorts International® timeshare experts. If the goal is to visit several wineries in a day, it will be essential to find a group of them that are open to the public on the same day. Many online resources exist to facilitate planning. Also, don’t try to overextend your tour. Most people find it impossible to really enjoy more than four wineries in a day. And drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!

Diamond Resorts International® also urges visitors to remember that many accommodations fill up well in advance – up to a year or more – especially when the grapes are on the vine and harvest commences, usually from late July through the fall. While the idea of seeing clusters of grapes and harvest operations sounds romantic, keep in mind that it is the most stressful time for the grape growers, winemakers and vineyard managers so their attention to tastings will be challenged. One of the most beautiful times to visit in fact, is late spring when the vines have started to flower and the host will be less rushed. And do keep in mind that wineries are in the business of selling wine, so when taking someone’s time, particularly with tastings that require reservations, be prepared to buy – it’s just common courtesy.
