Digital Rectal Baby Thermometer DTR 1221 P With Fever Indication Released

September 26, 2019 – – iProven, a home health products company based in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, has released their DTR-1221 P digital thermometer that was designed specifically for babies. This is important because mommies of newborn babies, specifically, are worried that their babies could get the flu knowing that the flu season is fast approaching. And because the recommended way to take the temperature of babies is through a rectal thermometer, the DTR-1221 P has been designed for such usage. It is also provided with fever indication for simple and easy use.

Suzanne, a spokesperson for iProven, says, “Designing a thermometer may seem an easy and straightforward task. You know what you want: an accurate thermometer that gives a reliable temperature reading. If you know how to apply the right technology, how hard can it be? As it turned out, our design team had to consider a lot of things in developing a digital thermometer for babies.”

First, there is the color. This thermometer is pink and white to indicate that it is really a thermometer for babies. Second, it should be designed for rectal measurements. This presents a special problem, especially for newborns. Parents would usually hesitate to take rectal measurements for their babies because of the fear that the thermometer will hurt them. Not so with the DTR-1221 P because its tip has been designed to be as small and flexible as possible. And when combined with the fast temperature reading of 10 seconds, fussy babies will hardly feel it and neither will they have enough time to be fussy.

Another concern is cleaning and disinfecting the baby thermometer. Parents who are worried that their newborn baby is sick have a lot of on their minds and the last thing they would want to worry about is keeping the thermometer clean and hygienic. That is why the design team ensured that this thermometer is waterproof to make it easy to clean it with soap and water. After washing it, parents can simply dry it and put it back in its hard case, ready for the next time that it would be needed.

Another important feature added by the design team to this thermometer is fever indication. People will notice that there is a set of three emojis printed on the left of the digital display. When a reading it taken, on the left of the display is an arrow that points to one of these emojis. If it points to a frown, the baby has a fever and it is time to take medical action. If the arrow points to a smile, the parent can really smile and go back to sleep because the baby’s temperature is normal. This feature is particularly important at night when mommies and daddies are sleeping and the baby seems to be more irritable than usual.

When taking the temperature of the baby rectally, mommy or daddy will need to make sure that the tip is clean and then raise the baby’s legs up to his or her chest. This is the position that allows for easy insertion of the thermometer tip. With the tip being as small and flexible as possible, this is a simple and easy task. And because the reading will take only 10 seconds, parents won’t have long to wait in order to ascertain that their little bundle of joy does not have a fever. If it turns out that the baby has a fever, they can take medical action immediately, thus minimizing the risk that their baby will suffer from serious complications in the event that he or she has the flu.
