E-Cig Explosion Lawsuit Is Filed As California Teen Alleges E-Cigarette Caused Serious Mouth Injuries

May 24, 2016 – – LipsigLawyer.com reports on a story first released by Mirror Online detailing the account of a young man who was rushed to the hospital after allegedly suffering from injuries when the e-cigarette he was using exploded in his face. The 17-year-old is a California resident and was reportedly riding in his friend’s car when the incident occurred. Further details say that the explosion’s force cracked the windows of the car and caused him to suffer from lost teeth and a hole in his tongue, according to the family. They indicated that due to the severity of his tongue injuries, it had become swollen, and he was having trouble breathing. It was also reported that the boy was taken by air to a burn unit where he would be able to be treated by a specialist.

The teen’s mom told a news source that her son had just told her he would be switching to using e-cigarettes in order to quit his cigarette habit. Though she was not fond of either idea, she indicated, she was grateful for anything that might help him stop smoking. The family has reportedly launched a fundraising page online to help cover the costs of his medical care, and the teen has since posted his gratitude on social media, stating, “Tears coming to my eyes in reality of everything that’s happened but mostly how many people are here for me in support and love. Life is a very precious thing and I am more than grateful to still have mine. I want to thank every single individual person that’s done anything to help my recovery process.”

Unfortunately, many believe that as e-cigarette use becomes increasingly popular, these types of incidents are occurring more frequently as well. Reports from across the U.S., and out of the country as well, have indicated that others say they were harmed by exploding e-cigarette devices. Recently in Queens, NY, a woman was reportedly parking her car when her e-cigarette battery exploded, launching the device into her dashboard so forcefully it became embedded there and caused her to suffer painful burns.
