E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit Case Filed After California Man Is Traumatized By Alleged E-Cig Explosion

July 15, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Marc Freund commented on a development in Grover Beach, California, where a local man was severely burned by an exploding e-cigarette on March 4th and has recently filed an e-cigarette explosion lawsuit. The Arroyo Grande resident filed a lawsuit against the device’s’ manufacturer, along with the retailer where he purchased his e-cigarette for damages on July 5th. Freund wishes the California man the best of luck in court and hopes that the victim is able to secure an extensive compensation for his injuries and trauma.

According to a local news report from SanLuisObispo.com, the victim is not the only individual seeking reparations from the incident. The victim’s wife is seeking damages for “loss of her husband’s love,”and “severe emotional distress,” which highlights the devastation that e-cig explosions can have on not only the victim but also on the victim’s family. The lawsuit that was filed in San Luis Obispo Superior Court seeks damages greater than $25,000, citing defective products and negligence against the manufacturer and retailer.

This incident is one of 21 e-cigarette explosions that have occurred in California since the products were made available to consumers in 2007 as reported by TheProductLawyers.com. California has the highest total of e-cigarette explosions for all U.S. states, having had as many e-cig explosions to date, as the second and third most prevalent states for e-cigarette explosions combined.

Moreover, out of the 205 reported e-cigarette explosions to date, over 160 explosions have occurred since 2014. The U.S. has seen nearly 140 e-cigarette explosions to date, making up close to 70 % of all such explosions, and doubling the total of e-cigarette explosions from the rest of the world. Typical injuries from e-cigarette explosions include cuts, burns, and in rare cases visual impairment and severed limbs.
