Early Signs: A Look At Warnings For A Disease At The Center Of Talcum Powder Lawsuit Filings

November 15, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on early warning signs women should be aware of when it comes to ovarian cancer.

According to The American Cancer Society, ovarian cancers usually have no early signs. When ovarian cancer causes symptoms, however, they are often symptoms that are more commonly caused by other things. These symptoms include abdominal swelling or bloating because of a mass or a buildup of fluid, pelvic pressure or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, and/or urinary symptoms such as having to go urgently or often.

This disease has become central to many women’s cases who have filed lawsuits against pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson. These women, who now number over 2,000 have claimed that Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder products are directly linked to the development of ovarian cancer. Plaintiffs allege that after using the powders for an extended period of time for feminine hygiene purposes, they or a loved one developed the deadly disease.

Johnson & Johnson has maintained that there is no scientific evidence linking the products to cancer and has insisted that the company has “followed the science” in their continuing sale and marketing of the product. As a result, Johnson & Johnson has not issued any warnings about the products indicating that a risk exists.

Three cases that have been tried so far, however, have ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, finding that a link may exist between the products and the development of ovarian cancer. The cases resulted in plaintiffs receiving millions of dollars for compensation and Johnson & Johnson is seeking appeals.

As these lawsuits are expected to grow in numbers, Banville Law is seeking to help those currently suffering. The firm has many years of experience fighting large pharmaceutical companies who have put dangerous drugs and devices onto the market, foregoing public safety for corporate greed.
