The first ever Joint Commission Workshop was held in Salt Lake City, hosted by ElevatedBilling.com and focused on mental health and substance abuse programs
South Jordan,, Utah – August 2, 2017 /MarketersMedia/ —
Mental illness is a common issue among individuals suffering from addiction and substance abuse. In the U.S., it is estimated that approximately 8.9 million people suffer from some degree of mental illness and substance abuse issue.
In an effort to better understand this relationship and develop effective programs for treatment, behavioral healthcare providers from across the nation attended the very first Joint Commission Workshop, which was held in Salt Lake City, UT for substance abuse and mental health programs. The workshop was sponsored by Elevated Billing solutions in an effort to help facilities navigate the accreditation process covered by the Joint Commission (JCAHO).
“We achieved a record turnout of over 30 facilities in attendance, which made this one of the largest attended workshop in the history of the Joint Commission,” stated Noah Moore, client relations, and JCAHO consultant. “During the presentation, attendees received information on guidance that covered how to begin the application process, the resources available to facilities and standardization of the measurable outcomes.”
During the course of the presentation, Megan Marx, Associate Director at Joint Commission, shared the information in front of a 300,000-gallon shark tank, with seven different species and 14 sharks inside. As a result, keeping attendees attention was easier than anticipated.
“According to those who attended, the workshop was extremely helpful,” continued Moore. “With the information presented in a step by step manner, it makes it easier to take the first step, which is what this entire workshop was focused on.”
Over the past year, Elevated Billing has been working closely with the Joint Commission to help facilities better understand the process and the importance of receiving accreditation and the impact it has on outcomes for patients.
