EnnoLogic Introduces Digital Lux Meter for Light Intensity Measurement
Ennologic’s new lux meter measures light levels in specific settings including home, school, office, laboratory, and theater. The light meter is designed for measuring incident light in specific areas to determine adequate light levels for safety, specific work environments, reading, indoor plants, orchids and more.
Eugene, United States – April 28, 2017 /PressCable/ —
EnnoLogic has introduced a new digital light meter for home, office and professional use. The lux meter measurement range is from 0 to 200,000 lux and measures and displays results in both lux and foot-candles (Ft-c).
The light meter is used to measure illuminance, or light intensity in a given area. Technically, this is defined as “the amount of light incident on a surface per unit area”.
Illuminance is the measurement used to determine adequate light levels for safe living and working conditions, such as are required for activities including ambient indoor lighting for safe movement through rooms of furniture, stairways and hallways, or applications such as desk work, reading, or carrying out household or maintenance work. Additional applications include proper light levels for laboratory, medical and technical work, horticulture, including greenhouses, hydroponic and other indoor planting systems, and minimum safe low level lighting for sleep and work environments such as hospitals, care centers, and senior living centers.
In sleep environments as well as theater, stage and entertainment environments, light is measured to protect against too much light exposure either from inappropriate (during sleeping hours) or excessively bright stage and spot lighting which can actually cause burns or injury.
The eL200K can be used for testing light conditions in a wide range of these environments to determine safe lighting limits, maintain optimal health conditions and protect against injury or accident due to either inadequate or excessive light exposure.
Hobbyists from orchid growers to hydroponics enthusiasts use illuminance measurements to protect plants and ensure optimal growing conditions, prevent diseases and encourage optimal bloom and fruiting of plants.
Measuring light intensity can also be important for those using light boxes for bright light therapy during low-light winter seasons when loss of adequate light stimulation can result in low energy and mood illnesses such as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
The ennoLogic eL200K light meter is designed to measure illuminance in both indoor and outdoor settings where incident light can be measured in a specific area. The unit provides measurements in lux and foot-candle units. The operating system includes maximum, minimum, and average reading tracking and displays as well as analog bar graph display and hold function.
The eL200K also features analog outputs (DC and AC). and a large 1.5″ LCD display with backlight that is easy to read even from a distance. The unit also includes a tripod mount (tripod not included) and external power option. It also has an auto power off function with a manual override option. The unit comes with a carrying case, 4 AA batteries, an analog output interface cable and user manual.
The first light meter in the ennoLogic line, the eL200K is designed for use in measuring illuminance in home, school, office, laboratory, warehouse, greenhouse and other technical, scientific, industrial, recreational and living environments.
The unit is not designed for use in photography, where proper light for film exposures are measured, but is, rather, designed exclusively for measuring luminance or actual light conditions in specific settings.
The meter’s sampling rate is 500ms, or about a half a second and delivers readings with an accuracy range of ±4% (0.1-10,000 Lux); ±10% above 10,000 Lux.
Recent changes in lighting technologies including fluorescent and LED lighting have produced many changes in the quality and perceived lighting of indoor spaces which can be deceptive to the human eye. A portable luminance meter allows for direct measurement of localized environments so that adequate lighting can be provided to ensure safe living conditions, including proper light for reading and desk work for children and adults alike.
Home gardeners and hobbyists will be able to accurately determine light levels for indoor grow lights, greenhouses, house plants and specialty lighting requirements for plants, reptiles, or other hobby environments requiring adequate or restricted lighting for optimal conditions.
The ennoLogic eL200K lux meter is available for purchase at Amazon.com and on the ennoLogic.com websites.
