Extensive Damage To Home Caused By E-Cigarette Explosion As E-Cig Lawsuit Filings Increase
June 07, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com provides details on reports of electronic cigarette explosions that have caused injury and damage to users and their property. Arizona news station ABC 15 covered the story of a man who was driving when his e-cigarette reportedly exploded in his pocket. The flames spread, he claimed, down his leg leaving serious burns, and his hand also suffered burns when he used it to try to put out the fire. He also called home, screaming over the phone to his young daughter that he was on fire. The man’s wife spoke to ABC 15 about their wish that the traumatic story of her husband’s ordeal will make other e-cigarette users aware of the dangers. In addition to his traumatic experience and injury, the whole family was affected by the e-cigarette explosion and resulting fire. “We know like 20 people,” she said, who use electronic cigarettes, and she was concerned that those people might also experience similar problems with their devices. Her husband sustained extensive burns during the event and was sent to the hospital for treatment.
From the same news station comes another, similar story. Unfortunately, this one involved extensive property damage after an e-cigarette exploded. Fire department estimates put the woman’s home damage resulting from the fire that the explosion started at over $100,000. Phoenix Fire Department has stated that more of these types of incidents are occurring, and is warning e-cigarette users of the dangers of the devices following an increase in the number of fires on their watch. The investigators, in this case, found that the woman’s e-cigarette cartridge overheated while charging, starting the fire that eventually caused so much damage.
