FDA Warns Screening Tests For Cancer Are Ineffective As Talcum Powder Lawsuit Filings Mount

November 16, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on a warning from the FDA indicating that ovarian cancer screening tests are often ineffective.

According to a communication by the FDA, “despite extensive research and published studies, there are currently no screening tests for ovarian cancer that are sensitive enough to reliably screen for ovarian cancer without a high number of inaccurate results. However, over the years, numerous companies have marketed tests that claim to screen for and detect ovarian cancer.” The FDA added that it recommends against using tests that are currently offered to screen for ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer has become a bigger issue for many women lately particularly because of its alleged link to talcum powder. Pharmaceutical companies such as Johnson & Johnson have been hit with over 2,000 lawsuits from women who claim that they or a loved one developed ovarian cancer after using the product for feminine hygiene purposes. These women argue that Johnson & Johnson should be held accountable for fraud and negligence for failing to provide consumers with information that would warn them about the alleged risks.

Since the first case was filed in 2009, Johnson & Johnson has aggressively fought against these claims, stating that there is no link between ovarian cancer and their products. Despite this argument, Johnson & Johnson has been made to pay millions in compensation after three juries found that a link does exist. The company is planning to appeal all three decisions.

As these lawsuits are expected to grow in numbers, Banville Law is seeking to help those currently suffering. The firm has many years of experience fighting large pharmaceutical companies who have put dangerous drugs and devices onto the market, foregoing public safety for corporate greed. Attorneys at Banville Law want to assist those who believe they have been directly affected by the use of Johnson’s talcum powder. Affected individuals may be entitled to financial compensation and legal action. Banville Law is currently offering free consultations to individuals who qualify.
