FELA Lawsuit Filed For Lead Machinist Against Union Pacific Railroad

Chicago, Illinois: The Law Offices of Parente & Norem, P.C. have filed a lawsuit on behalf of a lead machinist for the Union Pacific Railroad after the Plaintiff sustained severe injuries when trying to change a diesel engine governor from a locomotive.
On December 20, 2016, during the course of his work duties, the Plaintiff was tasked with replacing a governor on a locomotive believed to be Metra Engine 162. The Plaintiff was caused to strain himself in order to effectuate the lifting of the governor, resulting in severe injuries.
The lawsuit alleges that railroad failed to provide the Plaintiff with reasonably safe and proper equipment, conditions, methods, and place of work. The railroad required the governor to be changed on its current track instead of being moved to another track where the governor could have been conducted safely. The lawsuit claims that the railroad allegedly failed to furnish the Plaintiff with a safe working environment, provide the right tools or lifting equipment to properly complete the task, and did not move the locomotive to another track.
