First Transit Launches Innovative On-Demand Transportation Pilot Program
REDDING, Calif. – First Transit is proud to announce an on-demand transportation pilot program for the residents of the Far Northern Regional Center. The center specializes in adults with developmental disabilities.
First Transit’s on-demand program, called RediRide, launched in late 2017. RediRide provides transportation to key areas of the city, allowing residents access to entertainment, shopping and dining options, work or school, and even medical appointments.
Residents of the Far Northern Regional Center can book for a ride online or by contacting a call center.
“With more than 3,000 passenger rides to date, I’m so proud that we could bring additional mobility options for the residents,” said Kathleen Cravens, general manager at First Transit. “One of the goals of the Far Northern Regional Center program is to develop independence, and we are helping provide exactly that.”
RediRide operates 359 days a year, with weekday service from 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekend and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
