Forney Man Sustains Injuries In Rooftop Fall, Referenced By Construction Accident Lawyer In Comments
June 13, 2016 – – Attorney Thomas Moverman of LipsigLawyers.com recently referenced a rooftop fall that occurred in late April in a Dallas suburb. Moverman noted that he sympathizes with the victim and hopes that he is able to make a speedy recovery and return to work when he feels comfortable. On the other hand, Moverman is thankful that the victim was equipped with a safety harness. Without it, he emphasizes the potential injuries could have been much more severe.
According to a local report from Inforney.com, the victim fell approximately 30 feet off of a roof while wearing a safety harness which was attached to a rope. When the victim was about 15 feet from the ground, the safety harness broke which sent the man crashing to the ground. The Forney Fire Department and CareFlite were the first responders on the scene, and they intended to airlift the man to a Dallas area hospital. However, due to inclement weather, the man was rushed to Baylor Medical Center by ambulance where his injuries were assessed as non-life threatening.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2014 there were nearly 3,000,000 non-fatal injuries and illnesses in private industry. Making up a large portion of 2014’s non-fatal work-related injuries and illnesses, were cases involving falls, slips, and trips, which totaled 247,120 cases for the calendar year. Also indicated in the report, the number of fatal injuries per year decreased from 2006 to 2013. However, in 2014 the number of fatal injuries was 5 percent higher than the total from 2013, posting the largest number of fatalities since 2008.
