The two new exhibitions featured in gellart.com are for pieces by renowned Spanish artist Belen Millan and Colombian artist Luisa Fernanda Debarnot.
Belen Millan, who has lived her adult life in NY, spends her time between this city and Málaga, Spain. Her art is a reflection of her multicultural background in which the viewer can see references to her experiences in Andalusia, seen in the colors and Arabic textures, mixed with the cultural complexity of her NY experiences.
Substratos, the temporary exhibition that can be viewed in gellart.com, focuses on renewal and rebirth. Working with beeswax and photographs of both the interior and exterior of plants and tree barks, shows the natural rebirth of living things without forgetting its scars in their texture.
Arterias shows the nourishing of the organism through its peridermis, seen as a network of communicating vessels through translucent ivory and opaque black, showing the contrast between life and death.
Luisa Fernanda Debarnot is a painter from Colombia with strong influences by Gustav Klimt and Marc Chagall. Female figure dominate her work that transpires light and color. Many of her works belong to private collectors in France, United States, Switzerland, Canada, Colombia and other countries around the globe. She now lives in France, where she owns a private workshop.
Her paintings approach the spiritual universe through the eyes of her country of origin. The exuberant colors and nature of Colombia are identified in her paintings, closing a bridge between herself as an artist and the magical world.
