Gogo Cloud Gaming (GCG Asia) launches a new cloud gaming platform Xmech for the Asian region
The Hong Kong-based games developer said GCG’s remote streaming technology promises a seamless, lag-free and high-quality streaming experience
HONG KONG, HONG KONG – April 28, 2021 / / —
Independent games developer Gogo Cloud Gaming (GCG Asia) is scheduled to launch a new platform for cloud gaming to serve Asian gamers.
With several years of experience developing games for the cloud under their belt, the company decided to pivot to develop the underlying technology of cloud gaming, seeing as how the projected market is expected to reach 50 million in Asia by 2028.
“There are more than 3 million cloud gaming platform users in Asia currently. GCG feels there is ample room to grow. We are confident we can capture a major portion of cloud gaming enthusiasts with our upcoming service,” said CEO Dion Tan.
The Hong Kong-based games developer said GCG’s remote streaming technology promises a seamless, lag-free and high-quality streaming experience, a service that Asian gamers haven’t really been able to enjoy at an affordable price.
“We’ve been able to overcome both technical and business challenges over the years, though this by far has been the hardest one. The biggest opportunity here is for smartphone gamers, who comprise the largest share of the Asia gamer audience. We want to connect the games community across Asia to their friends and to more Asian games through Xmech,” Tan said.
Xmech is slated to ride on the rollout of 5G across the region. With ultra-fast connectivity, 5G is expected to transform access to a whole slate of cloud services and revolutionize cloud gaming for users across Asia. 5G is also expected to transform e-sports, which the company also sees great potential in for their platform.
GCG Asia is also trialling a version of its interactive remote access application for professional use as enterprise solution software. “The pandemic has opened up different avenues for us. We have seen great interest in using our technology for remote working purposes among creative professionals working in broadcasting, production and post-production,” Tan explained.
While no exact launch date has been confirmed, Tan said GCG expects to roll out the service in the third quarter of 2021.
