In this article Mr Morris said “There are some things that you are going to need to consider at the beginning of your project, some of these are obvious, some a little hidden. These include size of your brochure, colour, which colours, or black and white as well as getting your artwork right is critical. If you can get the artwork correct at the beginning of the project, you will save many hours and tons of frustration.”
The most common sizes to print your brochures, would be either A4, A5, or DL. There are many reasons why other sizes would be selected and if uncertain as to what size you should be printing, check with a professional.
Printing in colour is generally more effective than black and white and so is maximising the print space – there are two sides and both should be used. On short run print jobs, it will save very little money by printing on only one side, so use the back as well, even if just for a nice referral or a great picture, the results from a double sided brochure, are always much better than a single sided piece.
As stated by artbistro.monster.com “Design for the total picture. Consider each panel and the overall effect, once the brochure is open. If you use titles that are large and bold make sure they read well no matter how the brochure is opened”.
To set up artwork correctly is always the bugbear that catches clients when they are going to print brochures, it is worth speaking to a professional who can guide and assist in getting this very important facet right at the beginning of the project.
This article is primarily designed to update our clients who are interested in the different aspects of printing, and hope this information about printing brochures is of help for current and future print projects. Keep coming back to check for new articles.
