Grassroots Movement to help those in Hurricane Dorians’ path.

August 30, 2019 – – Panama City Beach, FL: Official Hurricane Dorian Updates, in Panama City Beach, FL.

Official forecasters are warning that Hurricane Dorian will likely intensify, increase in size and could possibly reach a status of Category 4 by its’ expected landfall in the southern part of the U.S. this Labor Day weekend. Many communities who are still suffering from Hurricane Michael damages, such as Mexico Beach and Panama City Beach, along with many other Florida communities like Port St. Joe, Port St. Lucie, Cocoa Beach, Fort Pierce and many more, are all considered to be in Dorians’ path.

During Hurricane Michael, many Floridians were unprepared, lost communications and were not aware of places they could obtain necessary and emergency resources, such as water, cell phones, and food. To help the Florida communities unite and prepare before Dorian strikes, individuals came together and formed the Official Hurricane Dorian Updates Facebook Group. Their intention is to offer a place that is easily accessible on a multitude of devices and where community members can share information, questions, support, images and find help as well as offer assistance. The Group is providing access to many outlets for official information, resources and official storm updates that effectuate the safety of those in the affected areas.

The Group has been steadily growing since inception and already has a multitude of posts from members that are life-saving and critical considerations for anyone preparing for or currently in the midst of a hurricane. Members have posted information on what should be included in a Hurricane Supply Kit, Flood Safety, what people should do before, during and after a flood, how to be prepared for a hurricane and others are posting locations where necessary supplies such as free cases of bottled water are available.
