GrowUpSmart Backgammon Game Now Comes With Video Tutorial
November 18, 2016 – – An educational toy and games company, GrowUpSmart, is committed to enabling as many people as possible to play strategy games, such as backgammon. To achieve this, they have released a new online video course entitled “Learn How to Play Backgammon”. It is a video course targeted specifically at beginner players. Meanwhile, anyone who purchases the company’s Smart Tactics Backgammon game will receive access to the course for free.
The company wants to point out that backgammon is one of the oldest games known to man, together with Go and Chess. It is believed to have originated from Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq. The game is a game of strategy, which requires logical and mathematical thinking, thereby also developing these cognitive skills in its players.
Founder and owner of GrowUpSmart, Martin Reinhold, says: “Recent evidence, including ancient dice made of human bones, support the idea that Backgammon was played as long as 5,000 years ago in Mesopotamia. This makes it one of the world’s oldest games, and the fact that it is still around today really demonstrates how good it actually is. However, a lot of people struggle to understand it, and they are reluctant to play with more experienced people, as they will be incapable of winning, while ruining the other player’s game at the same time because it becomes too easy. Our new video course aims to resolve this issue, giving people a baseline of understanding of the game and how it works.”
Backgammon has been played, under different names, in a range of ancient cultures the world over. The Romans, who called the game “Duodecum Scripta et Tabulae” (Latin for “tables”) played it extensively, and there are many ancient murals and frescoes that depict people playing the game. Historical evidence even shows Emperor Claudius and the infamous Emperor Nero being keen players. Both emperors were also known for their strongly developed strategic thinking skills.
“Backgammon is a game of strategy,” adds Martin Reinhold. “It is one that can help people develop their logical thinking and reasoning skills, two very important skills to have. By learning about the game through our educational video, they enable themselves to really get to know and enjoy it.”
