Dallas, USA – July 24, 2015 /PressCable/ —
August 1 marks the start of the Secret Society of Happy People’s 16th Happiness Happens Month. The focus for this year’s event is a 31 Day Challenge. With daily challenges ranging from “Sing out loud” to “Compliment 3 people,” to “Plan a Mini-Vacation.” The goal is to enhance happiness each day in August. All challenges are family friendly and either free or inexpensive.
“These challenges are simple and, in most cases, quick to do. Whether someone is an elementary school student or a corporate exec, their day, week, and month can be full of happiness,” says Pamela Gail Johnson, Founder of the Secret Society of Happy People.
Many people talk about ‘me time’ as an elusive concept that very few hardly ever get around to. For most, these challenges take next to no time to complete, and can really make a difference between a great day and a mediocre day. Hopefully all participants will realize how a single action can make each day much better. Doing things that contribute to happiness shouldn’t have to be scheduled weeks in advance or pushed back again and again. The challenge was created to help people prioritize happiness this August!
The Secret Society of Happy People started celebrating happiness with “Admit You’re Happy Day” on August 8th, 1999. Members wanted to let the happy feeling linger a little longer, so, in 2000, the Society expanded the celebration to the entire month of August. Now, August 8th still marks the annual Happiness Happens Day. This year, the challenge on that particular day is to “Toast The Day With Sparkling Lemonade” and celebrate the moment with a picture. The Society invites everyone to RSVP for the challenge on Facebook, and post pictures of all Happiness Happens Month Challenges completed on any social media platform using the hashtag #HHM2015.
“Anyone accepting the challenge should share it with friends, post pictures, and spread the word to encourage the participation of as many other people as possible,” said Johnson. “Also, even though a challenge is suggested for each day, every participant should always feel welcome to modify it in order to fit their interests and schedule.”
