What: Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run fundraiser benefiting Heroes for Children

When: Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015

6:30 a.m. – Registration Opens

7:30 a.m. – Opening Ceremonies with Mayoral Proclamation and commemorative balloon release

7:45 a.m. – Fun Run begins

8:15 a.m. – 5K Run/Walk

9:30 a.m. – Awards

Why: Heroes for Children recognizes Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – in September – by bringing Richardson and its surrounding communities together for a family-friendly event celebrating the hearts of children fighting cancer.

Registration:

o Virtual Runner available for $25 for those who are unable to attend the event but would love a t-shirt

o Run For Free available for participants who raise $150 or more through personal fundraising

o Adult registration available for $25 for ages 15 and up

o Child registration available for $15 for ages 14 and under

Details: The fundraiser will open with a commemorative balloon release led by co-founders Jenny Dowen and Larissa Linton, followed by the Fun Run and 5K. The Fun Run & 5K are open to participants of all ages. Entertainment will include a DJ and children’s Adventure Zone featuring games, activities, bounce houses and a special area to honor and remember children who have been affected by cancer. The Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run also promises prizes, awards, giveaways and food.
