Home Stager In London Ontario Releases Report On Decluttering Homes

January 08, 2020 – – MatiDesign, a London home stager, announces the release of a report outlining their process on making a home look less cluttered. The report is titled ‘Why Do We Have So Much Stuff’. It was written by company owner Mati Edwards who has over 20 years’ experience at home decorating and staging. She is very well respected in and around the London, Ontario area for her creativity and foresight.

Here is what Edwards had to say about where she got her inspiration for this particular report, “I am in a lot of different homes each month to work and sometimes I get quite overwhelmed by the amount of ‘stuff’ people accumulate. People have to be careful with this because all those items must go somewhere and that can make any home look cluttered. This goes for rooms that are tidy and decorated in a minimalist way too. Someone should never force a few of their accumulated items into a room’s décor just because they have them. Eliminating clutter and not having to fill every nook and cranny in a home with items is the key to having a better-looking home.”

Edwards went on to mention in the article that she does not fault any homeowner for accumulating a lot of things. She says its all part of the busy lifestyles that people lead today. After working, taking care of children’s needs, and running errands, this simply does not leave enough time or energy for someone to decorate and neatly arrange items in their home every day.

This recent blog article itself centers around a home staging task that Edwards was asked to do by a couple that was having difficulty selling their home. They wanted her to make their home more visually appealing to prospective buyers that came to look at it. She noted in the article that she found such things as 10 sets of wine glasses, 12 sets of drinking glasses, and 14 different dish sets. This is something she points out that not even the largest families can make use of. The problem being, all this stuff must be stored somewhere and many times it ends up in plain sight where it looks out of place. Edwards wrote in the article that she often smiles while working because people don’t even realize how much extra stuff they have accumulated until she goes to work for them.

As a side note to make the article easier to follow; a list of the types of work that Edwards typically does during any home staging process can be seen here at https://www.alignable.com/london-on/matidesign-interior-decorator-home-stager.

Some of the other highlights of the blog article were the before and after photos that were taken during this particular home staging project. These were taken in the kitchen and formal dining area of the home she was staging. Edwards says even she was impressed with the dramatic change that these photos showed from start to finish. She mentioned in the article that a big part of that drastic change was due to her professional experience as a home stager but also added some credit must go to the homeowners for their willingness to part with some of their ‘stuff’.

She ended the article by saying that these days ‘less is more’. Edwards recommends people decorate their homes in a way that is simple, minimal, sleek, clean, fresh, and Zen. She went on to add that this type of home decorating style is surprisingly good looking and gives a home a more peaceful look. Edwards also advised in the article that people periodically purge some of the items in their homes that they no longer use and have no sentimental value attached to them.
