How Things Work Science Projects Website Extends Science Project Contest

June 28, 2018 – – The How Things Work Science Projects website has recently launched a science project contest for the summer. They have now announced that they have extended the contest to go through July and end in August. Dave York from How Things Work Science Projects says: “We recently started sponsoring a science project contest to enable educators and students to stay busy over the summer. The aim is to encourage people to have fun while learning something new as well. We have now decided to continue to run this contest across July and end in August, thereby effectively covering the entire summer.”

The contest requires students to pick a project from the How Things Work Science Projects’ website. They must then complete the project, together with friends and family if they want to. At each step of the project, they should take videos or photographs and add those to a written account of what they have done. This should include the project, the theory, the observations, and the conclusion.

The projects that students can pick from have proven to be very popular. This is true both for educators and students. Roberta D., for instance, says on the website: “Thanks so much for the great resource for both teachers and students. Many of my teaching friends have used the site to help them obtain great ideas for younger students who needed something age appropriate for a science fair.”

First and second place winners will be announced when the contest closes. The first prize is an Amazon gift card valued at $50, a Flying Machines Kits valued at $25, a featured post with full credit for the participant’s work on the How Things Work Science Projects website including photographs, and a Winner Circle Page featuring one of the images shared on social media. The second prize will be an Amazon gift card valued at $25, a featured post on the How Things Work Science Projects website, and a Make Your Own Money Science Kit from the Smithsonian valued at $19.
